The Design Process Behind the Survey, for Children
Child voice is central to high quality Early Years practice and so it must also be central to this research project.
The Working Party agreed that a short and simple survey, below, consisting of open-ended questions would be most appropriate.
The flexibility of the questions allowed the WP practitioners, who know their children best, to administer the survey in a format of their choosing, knowing which approach would elicit the best response from their children.
Some chose to utilise whole-class discussions writing down verbatim quotes of the conversation; others preferred the floor-book technique with small groups of children to draw pictures and take photos; a few opted for recording interviews with individual children.
